Firearm Transfer

If you're buying a gun online, from a neighbor or from out of town, you need to protect yourself legally and have the firearm transferred at East Tennessee Gunsmith Services. We will make the process easy.

Transfer fees
Handguns - $30

Long guns - $35

Purchased a firearm from a dealer:
When you purchase a firearm from an out of town dealer, you will need that dealer to ship the firearm to East Tennessee Gunsmith Services. Please call us at 865-640-1270 and we will get the process started for you.

Purchased a firearm from a private party:
If you purchased the firearm from your friend, neighbor, or any other seller who is not a dealer it is best to come into our store with the seller. The gun will be transferred into our inventory and out of the seller’s name. The buyer will fill out the federal firearm purchase form. Current identification and permit will be needed to purchase. Background check will be run and transfer the firearm to the new owner.
